D.O.G.E. denies report of its closure

The U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.) rejected reports that it had been disbanded, calling the Reuters story false and misleading.

Official statement

In a post on X, the department characterized the Reuters item as inaccurate and reiterated its mandate to modernize federal administration and reduce waste.

«As usual, this is fake news from Reuters. President Trump received a mandate from the American people to modernize the federal government and cut waste, fraud and abuse. Just last week D.O.G.E. cancelled 78 inefficient contracts and saved taxpayers $335 million. We will be back in a few days with our regular Friday update».

Following the post, D.O.G.E. confirmed it will continue publishing periodic updates and framed the Reuters report as inconsistent with its ongoing operations.

Context and reporting

Reuters had published a piece suggesting the agency faced early disbandment, a claim D.O.G.E. explicitly denied in its social media message and related communications.

The department highlighted recent contract cancellations and corresponding savings as evidence of active work, while promising further routine disclosures in the coming days.
