Pro-crypto regulator temporarily leads Ukraine's digital ministry
After Mykhailo Fedorov became defense minister, his duties at the Ministry of Digital Transformation were transferred to deputy Oleksandr Bornyakov.
Interim leadership
No full appointment to the ministry head post is planned in the near term, the administration stated following the change in duties.
Oleksandr Bornyakov has worked at the ministry since its inception and oversaw major digital initiatives, including Diia.City and the e-Residency program.
Policy background and crypto stance
Within the IT community, Bornyakov is recognized as a public advocate for legalizing cryptoassets and for creating clear regulatory rules for the sector.
He has repeatedly pointed to the sector's potential for Ukraine and called for accelerated adoption of a legal framework to support industry growth.
The move comes against a backdrop where Ukraine ranked among the top five countries by global cryptocurrency usage, according to industry reports cited previously.
Role continuity
Officials emphasize that routine ministry work will continue under Bornyakov's interim leadership and that existing digital projects will proceed without interruption.
Any permanent nomination for the ministry's leadership will be announced separately when the government decides on the next steps.
